Why firms look beyond Harvest
None of this is a knock on Harvest’s time tracking. It’s what changes as a firm grows around it.
Renewal prices moved
Harvest is owned by Bending Spoons. Paid plans charge per seat, and additional invoices, projects, clients and tasks are billed by usage. In August 2026, trade press reported some renewals rising by as much as 1,500 percent.
The books live in a second system
Harvest syncs invoices and payments to QuickBooks Online or Xero, so the ledger, reconciliation and month-end close happen somewhere else.
Contractors are paid elsewhere
Harvest doesn’t pay people itself. It connects to Deel for that, which is another account and another bill.
Client requests sit in email
Harvest doesn’t include a help desk, so support requests, and the hours spent on them, are tracked by hand or in another tool.

Moving from Harvest
The import wizard reads the CSV files Harvest exports. Nothing is written to your books until you’ve reviewed a dry run.
Export from Harvest
Export all time from Settings → Import/Export, clients from Manage → Clients → Export, and invoices from Invoices → Report → Export.
Upload and check
Upload up to ten files at once. CherryWorks Pro works out what each file holds from its header row and checks every file for problems before you go further.
Review, then import
Choose what to bring across and the date ranges, review the dry run, then run the import. An admin can roll back a completed import, which removes the records it created.
What comes across from Harvest: clients, services, time entries, invoices and their payments, and past contractor payments from an expense export. Projects are created from your time entries.
The import wizard is on Professional and Business. The 14-day trial runs on Professional, so you can import your own data and send a real invoice before you’re charged.
